  • View the Acura TLX PMC Edition video

Harnessing the unique capabilities of its bespoke Performance Manufacturing Center (PMC) in Marysville, Ohio, Acura will introduce handcrafted limited-edition vehicles, starting with the 2020 TLX PMC Edition. With production starting this summer, the 2020 TLX PMC Edition will be built by the same master technicians that hand assemble the Acura NSX supercar. Deliveries of the exclusive 2020 TLX PMC Edition will begin this summer with pricing around $50,000. An MDX PMC Edition will follow. Both the production TLX PMC Edition and MDX PMC Edition Prototype make their world debut at the 2019 New York International Auto Show and will be on display throughout public show days, April 19-28, at the Jacob Javits Center.

“We designed the PMC not only to build NSX, but to give Acura the flexibility to explore handcrafted production of limited edition models,” said Jon Ikeda, Acura Brand Officer. “The TLX and MDX PMC Edition are the first to take advantage of this unique capability, and we intend to explore additional options.”

With a limited production run, the 2020 TLX PMC Edition is distinguished by its deeply lustrous and grade-exclusive Valencia Red Pearl paint with nano-pigment technology, applied in the bespoke factory’s advanced paint facility.

The 2020 TLX PMC Edition will sit atop the TLX lineup, featuring Acura’s high-performance direct-injected i-VTEC® V6 powertrain and torque-vectoring Acura Super-Handling All-Wheel Drive™ (SH-AWD®) along with the full complement of premium features shared with the TLX Advance Package. In addition, the TLX PMC Edition will incorporate the bold exterior and interior design elements of Acura’s A-Spec line, plus multiple PMC Edition-exclusive design elements, inside and out.

Extreme Color: Supercar Caliber Paint

Each TLX PMC Edition is finished in Valencia Red Pearl, the highest quality, most vibrant paint ever offered by Acura and previously reserved for only the NSX supercar. This advanced paint features nano pigment technology that produces exceptionally high color saturation (chroma) and deep levels of contrast.

Engineered using mica, metal flake and super-high transparency nano pigments, the paint is applied using PMC’s advanced robotic paint system in multiple base coats to enhance color intensity. This is followed by two clear coats to increase the paint’s luster. Each PMC Edition undergoes the same meticulous hand inspection process given to the NSX. The total time in paint, including curing, is five days.

Handcrafted Build Process
The TLX PMC Edition assembly process begins with the delivery of the body-in-white from the main TLX production facility (Marysville Auto Plant). Once the paint process is finished, the skilled Performance Manufacturing Center master technicians will begin the hand assembly of the PMC Edition, starting with the installation of all drivetrain and chassis components, wiring harnesses and electronics. Next, the PMC Edition 19-inch wheels and tires, and exterior trim are added. Finally, the PMC Edition is fitted with its unique interior including an individually numbered serial plaque on the center console.

When the hand-assembly process is complete, each TLX PMC Edition will undergo the same quality control process as NSX, including dyno check, final paint inspection, rough-road simulation and water leak test. Finally, these PMC Editions will be wrapped in a specially designed car cover before being transported to a dealer via an enclosed car carrier.

Exclusive PMC Edition Features
The TLX PMC Edition combines the line-topping premium features of the TLX Advance Package with the sporty character of A-Spec line – a unique build in Acura’s U.S. line-up. PMC Edition-exclusive exterior design elements include Valencia Red Pearl paint, a body-colored grille surround, gloss black painted roof and door handles; gloss black 19-inch wheels and lug nuts; body-colored side mirror housings, and dark chrome 4-inch dual exhaust finishers.

Inside, the TLX PMC Edition is distinguished by black Milano leather seats with Alcantara™ inserts, black piping and red stitching for the seats, door panels, and center armrest. An A-Spec steering wheel includes perforated black leather, red stitching and metal-finished paddle shifters. The individually numbered serial plaque on the lower console designates the 2020 TLX PMC Edition as handcrafted at the Performance Manufacturing Center.

SEMA: Graham Rahal Injects Style, Power and Performance to Custom Acura RDX A-Spec

  • 2019 RDX A-Spec tuned and tweaked by Graham Rahal Performance to 345 horsepower
  • Updated 2019 Acura NSX in Thermal Orange Pearl also on display alongside new NSX GT3 Evo race car
  • Acura Team Penske ARX-05 Daytona Prototype and Peter Cunningham’s TLX GT commemorate a successful 2018 race season for Acura Motorsports

Acura returns to the Specialty Equipment Manufacturing Show (SEMA) in Las Vegas, Nevada to display its commitment to performance, motorsports and the tuner community. A custom 2019 RDX A-Spec designed and built by Graham Rahal Performance (GRP) adds style, power and performance to the quickest, best-handling RDX yet. Fresh from Victory Circle, the race-ready NSX GT3, hill climb-conquering TLX GT and Acura ARX-05 Daytona Prototype showcase recent Acura Motorsports successes. Production cars on display include the newly updated 2019 NSX in Thermal Orange Pearl dress and an accessorized version of the refreshed 2019 ILX.

Graham Rahal Performance RDX A-Spec
Graham Rahal Performance, founded in 2017 by race-winning Honda IndyCar driver Graham Rahal, took on the all-new 2019 Acura RDX A-Spec with a goal of enhancing the performance through subtle but significant updates to the RDX’s powertrain, suspension, brakes, and wheel, tire package.

“As owners of an Acura dealership, we know how strong the new 2019 RDX is out of the gate. I didn’t want to mess with a good thing,” said Graham Rahal. “Sometimes, subtle enhancements can make a big difference in the look of a vehicle. And that’s exactly what my team and I aimed for with this GRP RDX.”

Using its experience in tuning the Civic Type R, GRP upgraded the RDX’s factory 2.0-liter DOHC VTEC® Turbo engine with a new turbocharger, intake and exhaust manifolds, and downpipe. PRL Racing fabricated a custom intercooler and intake setup, while GRP developed a custom lightweight cat-back exhaust system. Ensuring everything works in harmony, KTuning created a custom ECU map for the boosted RDX. All-in, the GRP RDX produces an estimated peak output of 345 horsepower and 370 lb-ft of torque, channeled through the RDX’s available torque-vectoring Super Handling All-Wheel Drive™ (SH-AWD®) system. Chassis modifications include custom Eibach sport springs that lower the RDX by two inches, while stopping performance is improved by six-piston StopTech brakes. Lightweight HRE P101 wheels in 21-inch diameter are wrapped in 265/40 Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires, giving the GRP RDX A-Spec an aggressive and purposeful stance.

The GRP RDX is painted in Apex Blue Pearl, an A-Spec exclusive color, supplemented with GRP custom carbon mirror caps and carbon grille accents, along with body-color painted lower garnish, giving the RDX an even lower appearance. Interior styling modifications include carbon fiber accents and a custom steering wheel designed by renowned racing driver Max Papis of MPI Innovations. The GRP RDX retains the A-Spec’s unique black leather sport seats with Ultrasuede® accents. A longtime partner throughout Rahal’s racing career, Troy Lee Designs consulted on the design of the vehicle and installed custom graphics in its Southern California design studio.

Acura NSX GT3 Evo
Following two successful racing campaigns, culminating in five race wins and a second-place finish in the 2018 IMSA Weathertech GTD Championship, the NSX GT3 was recently revealed in updated Evo form. The NSX GT3 Evo improves upon the race-proven NSX GT3 with a host of updates aimed at better performance and reduced running costs for an even wider range of amateur and professional drivers. The NSX GT3 Evo’s lightweight carbon fiber bodywork has been modified for reduced drag to create higher top speeds, better balance and drivability at all speeds, and improved cooling. The new bodywork includes a new front splitter, rear diffuser, and rear bumper. The GT3 Evo receives new turbochargers for better throttle response, boost control and improved fuel economy. Additionally, the NSX GT3 Evo benefits from an improved anti-lock braking systems, an upgraded Bosch display and data-logging unit to increase efficiency and enhance the driver experience. Existing owners can have their NSX GT3s retrofitted to Evo-spec through Variant Supply.

The GT3 race car’s bespoke chassis is built alongside the road-going version of NSX at the Performance Manufacturing Center (PMC) in Marysville, Ohio1. The 3.5-liter twin-turbocharged V6 racing engine uses the same design specifications as the production car, including block, heads, valve train, crankshaft, pistons and dry-sump lubrication system and is assembled alongside the production engine at the Anna Engine Plant (AEP) in Anna, Ohio. Offered for sale globally strictly for racing, the NSX GT3 Evo is eligible for competition in more than two dozen racing series. More information is available at AcuraClientRacing.net.

The driver duo of Dane Cameron and Juan Pablo Montoya drove the ARX-05 to the podium four times in the team’s inaugural season, while Ricky Taylor and Helio Castroneves secured two podiums, including a win in the Acura Sports Car Challenge at Mid-Ohio.

The ARX-05 is powered by Acura’s race-proven AR35TT twin-turbocharged V6, based on the production V6 that powers the Acura MDX, TLX and RLX. The AR35TT has powered class wins at the 12 Hours of Sebring, the 24 Hours of Le Mans, and an LMP2 World Endurance Championship in 2012; the American Le Mans Series LMP2 title winners in 2012 and 2013; and the overall victors at the Rolex 24, 12 Hours of Sebring and Petit Le Mans in 2016.

The all-wheel-drive RealTime Racing (RTR) TLX GT race car, piloted by Peter Cunningham, returned to Pikes Peak in 2018, taking first-in-class and third overall at the grueling and famous hill-climb event. The podium finish was quickly followed with an Exhibition Class win and new all-time course record of 18:539 in the Empire Hill Climb in Empire, Michigan. Previously campaigned in the Pirelli World Challenge, the twin-turbocharged RTR TLX GT features suspension, engine management and transmission gearing specially tuned to tackle the many challenges presented by hill-climb events.

The TLX V6 A-Spec is offered for the first time starting at $42,800.

“We’re enhancing the already outstanding dynamic performance of the Acura TLX by carrying our Precision Crafted Performance direction through to the exterior design,” said Jon Ikeda, vice president and general manager of Acura. “The addition of the new A-Spec further advances the TLX to a more distinctive position in the segment and enhances its appeal to a more performance oriented buyer.”

  • Bold new style inspired by Acura Precision Concept
  • New A-Spec variant adds dynamic dimension, distinct style and performance character to TLX V6
  • TLX leads segment with AcuraWatch™ technologies now standard

2018_Acura_TLX 2

The refreshed 2018 Acura TLX performance luxury sedan goes on sale June 1 with a more sporty and alluring look reflecting the brand’s new design direction, along with an all-new TLX A-Spec variant, and new premium features. The 2018 TLX offers AcuraWatch™ as standard equipment on all grades, leading all luxury midsize sedans in the application of advanced safety and driver-assistive technologies. The new 2018 TLX 2.4L starts with a Manufacturer’s Suggested Retail Price (MSRP)1 of $33,000 while the V6 equipped models start at $36,200.

The 2018 TLX is the first Acura to feature a redesigned dual-screen user interface (ODMD 2.0) with more intuitive menus and command structures complemented by a new 7-inch capacitive touchscreen (previously resistive type) with a 30-percent faster response time and Android Auto™ compatibility — putting some of your phone’s most useful Apps on the TLX’s display. The new TLX also supports Apple CarPlay™, a seamless way to use your iPhone in the car to get directions optimized for traffic, make calls, send and receive messages, and listen to music.

The 2018 TLX is the first Acura sedan to take design cues from the Acura Precision Concept and boasts an alluring new style, highlighted by the Acura diamond pentagon grille and amplified by its more sharply sculpted hood and front fenders, paired with strong dynamic characteristics including more aggressive and sporty front and rear fascia and side sills. Acura’s signature 5-lamp Jewel Eye™ LED headlights and new alloy wheel designs complete the distinctive, athletic and aggressive character of the TLX.

New Features for TLX V6 Models
All TLX V6 models feature a new rear diffuser with exposed dual-exhaust outlets; while the Technology Package adds a chrome side sill garnish, leather seats with high-contrast stitching and piping, and a power-operated driver’s seat thigh extension.

The TLX V6 Advance Package gains new, premium features including trapezoidal LED fog lights, a Surround View camera system, built-in wireless charging pad, white LED ambient interior light piping (in 10 locations), a heated steering wheel and rear outboard seats, power-folding side mirrors, and a new body-colored decklid spoiler.

All-New TLX V6 A-Spec
Reflecting Acura’s Precision Crafted Performance® DNA, the all-new 2018 TLX V6 A-Spec amps up the sporty character of TLX and features exclusive design elements inside and out, along with key enhancements to chassis tuning and wheel/tire specification.

The TLX A-Spec’s unique styling begins in front with a matte-black diamond pentagon grille with dark chrome surround, an aggressive lower front fascia with broad center air opening flanked by round LED fog lights, and a dark appearance for the Jewel Eye LED headlights. A-Spec exclusive 19-inch alloy wheels finished in Shark Gray paint are shod with 245-series tires and combine with aggressively flared side sills for a more athletic and planted stance. The A-Spec exterior upgrades continue at the rear with a gloss-black decklid spoiler, “smoked” LED taillights, and an exclusive fascia featuring a lower diffuser accented by 4-inch round dual exhaust finishers. A matte-black side window surround and A-Spec badging on the front fenders and rear decklid completes the look.

Inside, the TLX A-Spec features more aggressively bolstered front seats with high-contrast stitching and piping; red LED ambient light piping; red driver’s meter highlights; black headliner and pillar treatment; brushed aluminum-look instrument panel garnish; and an exclusive, thick-rimmed steering wheel with A-Spec badging.

In addition to the improved lateral grip and responsiveness offered by Michelin Primacy 245/40R19 tires (225/50R18 on other V6 models), the TLX A-Spec benefits from a retuned electric power steering system and damper settings. A-Spec models equipped with SH-AWD also get a quicker steering ratio for increased response and a stiffer spring rate and rear stabilizer bar for improved body control.

The TLX A-Spec is available in five exterior colors, including a trim-exclusive Still Night Blue Pearl, and one of two unique interior color schemes, Black with Alcantara™ seat and door inserts or Full Red which features a bold red leather throughout. A-Spec models have the same feature set as the TLX V6 with Technology Package as well ventilated front seats, wireless charging pad and LED ambient light piping found in the Advance Package.

The 2018 Acura TLX continues to be offered with two advanced powertrains: a 2.4-liter, 206-horsepower i-VTEC® inline-4 mated to an 8-speed Dual Clutch Transmission (8DCT) with torque converter; and a 3.5-liter, 290-horsepower i-VTEC® V6 mated to a 9-speed automatic transmission that has been retuned for a more refined feel.

TLX models with the 2.4-liter engine come equipped with Acura Precision All-Wheel Steer™ (P-AWS™), with independent left- and right-rear-wheel toe angle control to enhance overall handling precision, low-speed maneuverability and high-speed stability.

TLX models with the 3.5-liter V6 are available in both two- and all-wheel drive configurations. Front-drive models feature P-AWS with independent left- and right-rear-wheel toe angle control that sharpens low- and high-speed maneuverability. All-wheel-drive models feature Acura Super-Handling All Wheel Drive™ (SH-AWD®), the most sophisticated torque-vectoring system in the industry, enabling a precise, dynamic driving experience that is uniquely Acura.

TLX 2.4-liter models can be equipped with the Technology Package, while V6 models are available with the Technology, A-Spec or Advance Packages.

2018 Acura TLX Makes World Debut with Aggressive, Sporty Design, and New Technology Features

  • 2018 Acura TLX sports sedan debuts with three distinct variants, Acura Precision Concept-inspired design language and robust tech features
  • All-new TLX V6 A-Spec adds emotional styling and sport-tuning
  • Standard Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and AcuraWatch, and a host of premium features make TLX among most technologically advanced and well-equipped vehicles in its segment

2018_Acura_TLX

Acura has unveiled a refreshed and significantly enhanced 2018 TLX performance luxury sedan, delivering the brand’s Precision Crafted Performance design direction to its core sedan. The all-new TLX A-Spec takes the sedan’s design in an even more emotional direction, further broadening the brand’s appeal to younger buyers. The Acura TLX also will be one of the most technologically advanced and well-equipped vehicles in the segment with new technology features including Apple CarPlay™, Android Auto™ and AcuraWatch™ standard on all grades. The 2018 TLX is slated to go on sale at Acura dealerships nationwide in June.

The 2018 TLX boasts a more aggressive and sporty look inspired by the Acura Precision Concept that debuted last year, a design direction that has successfully influenced the styling of the 2017 MDX luxury SUV. Acura’s signature diamond pentagon grille, paired with changes to the sedan’s stance, proportion, wheels and sheet metal boosts its presence on the road.

“We’ve really upped the ante in terms of styling, emotion and road presence, more effectively communicating the TLX’s dynamic capabilities,” said Jon Ikeda, Acura vice president and general manager.

The 2018 TLX design illustrates its three variants with distinct characteristics. The 2.4-liter i-VTEC inline-4 cylinder TLX receives a sporty new front fascia featuring the diamond pentagon grille, a new bumper, more sculpted hood, fenders, redesigned Jewel Eye™ headlight design with LED turn signal and a new standard 17-inch wheel and tire package.

The V6 TLX models add an aggressive, refreshed rear fascia with exposed, rectangular dual-exhaust finishers, rear diffuser and standard 18-inch wheels. The V6 TLX with Technology Package adds a new chrome side sill garnish, all-new seats with contrast piping and stitching, and a power-operated thigh extension on the driver’s seat. The Advance Package gains additional technology including trapezoidal LED fog lights, Surround View Camera system, built-in wireless charging pad, white LED ambient light piping in 10 locations throughout the cabin, a heated steering wheel and heated rear outboard seats, a body-colored decklid spoiler, and power-folding side mirrors.

Acura’s acclaimed torque vectoring Super Handling All-Wheel Drive® (SH-AWD™), the best handling all-wheel drive system in the industry, is available for the first time on all V6 TLX models, previously available only with V6 models equipped with Technology or Advance Packages

New TLX A-Spec

Reflecting Acura’s Precision Crafted Performance DNA, the new TLX V6 A-Spec is available in two-wheel drive and SH-AWD™ configurations, adding character and performance inside and out. An exclusive front fascia, round LED fog lights, aggressive side sills, rear diffuser accented by large, round dual-exhaust finishers and gloss black decklid spoiler creates an even bolder character. Exclusive, dark finish 19-inch wheels paired with wide 245-series tires complement a sport-tuned suspension with more aggressive damper settings and retuned electric power steering for a sharper, more precise handling experience. TLX A-Spec models with SH-AWD also receive a stiffer spring rate and rear stabilizer bar for improved body control. Gloss black trim and A-Spec badging on the rear decklid, fenders, side sill garnish and steering wheel completes the look.

On the inside, a host of sport-oriented refinements and premium features include exclusive leather seats with increased bolstering, red driver’s meter highlights, brushed aluminum-look interior trim, and a thick-rimmed sport steering wheel. Two A-Spec exclusive interior color choices are offered: Red leather or Black leather with Alcantara™ seat and door inserts. Premium enhancements borrowed from the top trim Advance Package include wireless charging pad, ventilated front seats and red LED ambient light piping (white on the Advance Package).

Technology Enhancements

The 2018 TLX is the first Acura to feature a refreshed dual-screen user On Demand Multi-Use Display™ (ODMD 2.0) interface that supports Apple CarPlay™, Android Auto™ and Sirius XM 2.0. New software improves the system response time and offers more intuitive menus and command structures for a seamless and quicker user experience – approximately 30 percent faster. An enhanced 7-inch touchscreen has a capacitive display that is more responsive to the touch and is positioned within easy reach of the driver and front passenger.

With its unique AcuraWatch™ suite of technologies, the 2018 Acura TLX is the only vehicle in its class with standard crash avoidance and active driving-assistive features. AcuraWatch™ includes Collision Mitigation Braking System (CMBS) with automatic emergency braking, Forward Collision Warning (FCW), Lane Keeping Assist (LKAS), Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) with Low-Speed Follow (LSF) and Road Departure Mitigation (RDM). AcuraWatch uses a millimeter wave radar and monocular camera sensing technology to detect other vehicles as well as lane markings and can help intervene to prevent or mitigate the severity of a collision. With Adaptive Cruise Control with Low-Speed Follow and Lane Keeping Assist, AcuraWatch can significantly decrease the driver’s workload during freeway cruising by maintaining a set speed and following interval, initiating both braking and throttle inputs, and adding steering input to help the driver maintain their position in the detected lane.

Powertrains
At the heart of the TLX’s athletic sports-sedan performance capabilities are its two powertrains, both utilizing direct-injection, i-VTEC valvetrains with variable cam phasing, and low-friction technologies to deliver higher output and linear and responsive power delivery, as well as to garner class-leading fuel-economy ratings.

The direct-injected 2.4-liter DOHC i-VTEC in-line 4, producing a peak 206 horsepower and 182 lb.-ft. of torque, is mated to an 8-speed Dual Clutch Transmission (8DCT) with torque converter. Featuring Sequential SportShift, closely spaced ratios, ultra-quick shifts and automatic rev-matching downshifts, the 8DCT gives the 2.4-liter TLX an aggressively sporting yet refined feel. The torque converter provides exceptionally smooth operation in stop-and-go situations, plus it offers off-the-line torque multiplication for substantially improved initial acceleration that a DCT alone cannot equal.

The direct-injected 3.5-liter SOHC i-VTEC V6 incorporates Variable Cylinder Management (VCM), with the ability to deactivate three of the engine’s six cylinders, for improved fuel efficiency. The aluminum-alloy 24-valve engine produces a peak 290 horsepower and 267 lb.-ft. of torque.

The V6 engine is mated to a 9-speed automatic transmission with a wide gear ratio range and featuring Sequential SportShift plus the Electronic Gear Selector with push-button array.

The TLX SH-AWD also incorporates an idle-stop capability for improved fuel efficiency. A 28-volt Active Control engine mount significantly reduces engine vibration during restarts.

The TLX equipped with the 2.4-liter engine has an EPA fuel-economy rating of 24/35/282 mpg city/hwy/combined, among the highest for any vehicle in its class. The TLX with the 3.5-liter V6 with P-AWS has an EPA fuel-economy rating of 21/34/252 mpg. The TLX SH-AWD has an EPA fuel-economy rating of 21/31/252.

Acura Precision-Handling Technologies
Two-wheel-drive TLX models, with either the 2.4-liter or 3.5-liter engine, come equipped with the latest iteration of Acura P-AWS. The P-AWS system was integrated into the fundamental chassis design from the earliest stages of development, allowing engineers to take full advantage of its independent left and right rear-wheel toe angle control to enhance overall handling precision, low-speed maneuverability and high-speed stability.

The TLX SH-AWD features Acura’s acclaimed torque vectoring SH-AWD® technology. The rear-drive unit is constantly overdriven by 2.7-percent, providing torque-vectoring effect across a broad spectrum of driving situations, enhancing cornering capability at lower speeds and in tighter-radius corners.

Near-limit and high speed maneuvering capabilities of both the P-AWS and SH-AWD models are enhanced by the use of Agile Handling Assist (AHA), which utilizes the TLX’s Vehicle Stability Assist™ and premium 6-piston brake modulator to create a yaw moment (a vehicle turning force), helping the driver smoothly and easily trace the desired line with smaller steering-wheel inputs. AHA stabilizes the car earlier than conventional VSA, resulting in more agile and engaging dynamic performance in everyday driving conditions.

All TLX models also feature the latest development of Acura’s Integrated Dynamics System (IDS), which allows drivers to customize their driving experience through four selectable modes—ECON, Normal, Sport and Sport+. Depending on the setting, IDS will adjust power-steering effort, throttle response, transmission shift logic, HVAC system operation, and the control logic for either the P-AWS or SH-AWD systems. The Sport+ mode, a first for Acura, unlocks the full performance potential of the TLX with the most aggressive settings in all areas.

Safety and Driver-Assistive Technologies
The TLX also advances Acura’s reputation for delivering cutting-edge safety performance with its AcuraWatch™ suite of technologies. The TLX deploys a cooperative monocular camera and millimeter wave radar system that expands both the fidelity and scope of the vehicle’s road-sensing capabilities. This fusion of camera and radar technology underpins the TLX’s available Collision Mitigation Braking System™ (CMBS), which can provide enhanced car-to-car and car-to-pedestrian collision mitigation, while also enhancing the capabilities of the Adaptive Cruise Control.

The TLX utilizes Acura Road Departure Mitigation (RDM), which is included with the Advance Package. RDM uses the monocular camera to recognize painted lane lines, Botts’ Dots and Cat Eye markers to determine lane boundaries. When the vehicle’s current travelling direction would cause it to stray from a detected lane, the system warns the driver and assists by applying corrective steering input and, if required, braking force to help the driver maintain their current lane.

Additional standard and available driver-assistive features include blind spot information (BSI), Lane Departure Warning (LDW), Forward Collision Warning (FCW), Expanded View Driver’s Side Mirror, Lane Keeping Assist (LKAS) and Rear Cross Traffic Monitor (CTM).

The TLX also employs Acura’s next-generation Advanced Compatibility Engineering™ (ACE™) body structure, along with advanced supplemental restraint systems—including front, side, side-curtain and driver’s knee airbags—to provide a high level of occupant protection in a wide spectrum of collision scenarios.

Body and Chassis
The TLX platform (body and chassis) was designed from the ground up to support and enhance the vehicle’s outstanding driving dynamics, luxury-sedan refinement, class-leading fuel efficiency and high-level collision safety performance.

The chassis features a four-wheel independent suspension system—McPherson Strut front and multi-link rear—with optimized geometry and Amplitude Reactive Dampers for improved ride comfort and handling performance. The TLX’s Motion-Adaptive Electronic Power Steering delivers a high level of steering precision and responsiveness while aiding fuel efficiency. It also works cooperatively with the vehicle’s Vehicle Stability Assist (VSA) traction-control system to help the driver maintain vehicle control in slippery road conditions.

The TLX’s unit body utilizes advanced lightweight materials, including ultra-high-strength steels, aluminum (hood, bumper beams and front subframe) and magnesium (steering hangar beam), to minimize weight while providing for a high degree of rigidity that benefits both dynamic performance and occupant safety. Also incorporated into the body is the next generation Advanced Compatibility Engineering (ACE) frontal body structure, and a one-piece, hot-stamped-steel door stiffener ring. The sleek body design is also optimized for class-leading aerodynamic efficiency.

For a premium interior experience, Acura engineers paid special attention to body sealing to provide a quiet and relaxing cabin experience. This includes the application of acoustic spray foam, which is applied in 10 critical locations throughout the body. Additional noise-reducing features include triple door seals, the expanded application of body sealing and sound absorptive materials, an acoustic glass windshield, and electronic Active Noise Control (ANC).
